Trip safety

Safety and packing

A quick, practical guide to packing well and enjoying Wicklow in changeable weather.

What to bring

  • Waterproof jacket and warm layers.
  • Comfortable walking shoes or boots with grip.
  • Change of socks and dry clothes.
  • Water bottle, personal medication, and any personal first-aid items you rely on.
  • Phone charger or power bank.
  • Small torch or head torch for camp at night.
  • Travel insurance details, if insured.

Weather and route changes

Wicklow weather can change quickly. Rain, wind, low cloud, or poor ground conditions may affect timings, walking sections, scenic stops, and camp activity. The route may be adjusted for comfort, safety, or access.

Fitness and access

This is an outdoorsy camping trip rather than an extreme hike. Guests should be comfortable walking on uneven ground and spending time outside. Tell us before arrival about any access, mobility, health, medication, or dietary issue that could affect your participation.

Camp conduct

  • Respect campsite quiet hours and shared spaces.
  • Use the fire pit only in line with campsite rules and weather conditions.
  • Do not enter lakes, rivers, restricted areas, private land, or unsafe ground unless clearly permitted.
  • Keep alcohol moderate and do not take part in walking or camp activity while impaired.
  • Leave heritage sites, trails, and campsite areas as you found them.
